A 76 year old Brooklyn man went to a Manhattan hospital in 2006 for hip replacement surgery. In the recovery room he had unexplained pain and then lapsed into a coma.
When he came out of the coma a few months later he was profoundly brain damaged and in need of institutional care.
The matter settled in early 2012 for $3,450,000 with payments coming from the anesthesiologist and hospital.
